'Orchid'

  This is a new work in progress by one of my students.  She saw this photo of a painting in the LA Times and wanted to copy it.  Its coming out pretty good. She started with a charcoal drawing to size and once that looked good we transfered the image to canvas and she began the painting process. She still has to do more layering.  You can see we worked out a color palette before she began to paint.
